For super fans only

Don’t even read this unless you live and breathe beach volleyball

So we’ve just announced next year’s beach volleyball season calendar and 2018 can’t come quick enough, kicking-off with the Fort Lauderdale Major in February. As you can tell by the very explicit title – we are looking for super fans only – to volunteer at one of the best beach volleyball events stateside.

One of the biggest events in beach volleyball is set to take place at the Fort Lauderdale Beach Park and the only thing you need to concern yourself with – is where will you be, when history is made? Will you be on the side-lines? Or will you rise to the occasion? Step out of your comfort zone and experience the Fort Lauderdale Major first hand… as a volunteer.

Why? The Fort Lauderdale Major that’s why.

Not satisfied with that? Neither are we. Actually we will take this moment to go back on everything we’ve just said. We were going to write a list of cons on why you should not even think about volunteering at the Fort Lauderdale Major. Here are five reasons to not twist your arm:

1. You will work at the beach

I mean who would put themselves through that? All that beauty is just too much. Nature will be there looking all gorgeous and so on and you have to work in that environment. *SMH* Even though we know that just looking at the ocean and the beach decreases stress significantly, lowers blood pressure and releases endorphins (Imagine that – natures very own feel good drug.) we see how you’d rather stay within four artificially lit, air-conditioned walls…

2. You gain work experience

The labor market is becoming increasingly competitive. The expectations and demands upon graduates are at an all-time… everything. If you are 15 and don’t have your master’s degree and 20 years’ experience in that role or something similar you cannot find a job (we may have exaggerated that figure just a tad). But you know who needs work experience? Especially when you have the opportunity to be placed in super cool departments like: sport, VIP and Hospitality, PR and social media, Red Bull Beach Arena entertainment, and Will Call and Event Information learning directly under the wings of industry professionals.

3. You get to mingle with the stars

From Olympians and internationals to VIPs, working at the Fort Lauderdale Major will give you the opportunity to meet, get to know and work with people from all over the world – who would want that? A chance to make friends for life and meet those guys, who may have represented your country at the last Summer Olympics – what a drag.

4. You get to see behind-the-scenes

Beach Major Series organizes five star beach volleyball tournaments (don’t mean to toot our own horn but toot toot). But seriously, you would get to see how an event of this scale is put together. Anyone looking for a career in sports and event management would get some serious insights, but then again, who wouldn’t want to benefit from seeing and being a part of something like the Fort Lauderdale Major? Oh wait, I forgot! We are supposed to only talk about cons… *desperately trying to think of cons and coming up blank*

5. You get to work at an event that focuses on the sport you love.

Beach volleyball. Beach volleyball. Beach volleyball. Wherefore art thou beach volleyball? Deny thy ocean view and refuse thy amazing opportunity. Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my dedication and loyalty and I’ll no longer want to watch you on the sidelines. ‘Tis but thy and only thy - that is the sport that is in my heart. ‘Tis but destiny and good fortune that permits me to work as a volunteer.  (Soz Shakespeare)

The long and the long of it is that there simply are no cons to working as a volunteer at a Beach Major Series event. Sun, beach, sand, party, friends, new people, new friends, experience of a lifetime and most importantly – beach volleyball.
