We count down our top five moments from the first tournament of the season

The Fort Lauderdale Major was a tournament like no other for a very special reason this time: we had the company of some very, very special VIPs!

Of course all eyes were on the Center Court and side courts throughout a stunning week of action on the beach…but off it, there was plenty of fun and games behind-the-scenes.

And it doesn’t get much bigger than a former boxing heavyweight champion of the world. On the Friday, English champ David Haye dropped by to say hi, commentated live on the SPORTbible’s Facebook page and then offered the Major Series Dancers an impromptu match! It really was a day packed full of punches!

We also had the pleasure of welcoming Australian funny men the Janoskians to Florida. Beau Brooks and Daniel Sahyounie added their own unique view of the tournament as they met fans and even joined in with the Major Series Dancers on the court!

If that wasn’t enough, new-look American team Patterson/Brunner, who enjoyed an excellent start to their partnership by beating Olympic champs Alison/Bruno, got a lesson in cliff diving in Fort Lauderdale’s legendary Swimming Hall of Fame from Red Bull cliff diving pro Steve LoBue.

And one (okay, technically two) of our highlights was reserved on the days of both men’s and women’s finals as the Red Bull Air Force skydivers Miles Daisher and Jeff Provenzano dropped in from the blue skies above to deliver the matchball.
