Tasty tussles guaranteed in #FTLMajor main draw

Get a load of who’s playing who in the Fort Lauderdale Major pool play

Florida’s finest Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena have been handed a tough pool in the main draw as they aim to win gold on home sand at the Fort Lauderdale Major.

The duo, who won silver on this very spot at the World Tour Finals in 2015, will take on Russians Stoyanovskiy/Yarzutkin, Austrian Olympians Doppler/Horst and Brazilian wildcards Harley/Ricardo.

There’s an eye-catching quartet making up Pool C, as reigning Olympic and World Tour Finals champs Alison/Bruno face American wildcards Brunner/Patterson and two teams from Germany.

In Pool E, former teammates Sam Pedlow and Grant O’Gorman go will go head-to-head just months after parting ways in what’s another fiercely competitive group that also features Winter/Seidl of Austria and Polish pair Kantor/Losiak.

In the women’s section, America’s best chance of gold lies in the hands of April Ross and three-time Olympic champion Kerri Walsh Jennings. And the pair will be hoping they can do the business and get past two qualifiers Barbara/Fernanda of Brazil and the Netherlands’ Van Iersel/Flier

Larissa/Talita took the acclaim of the fans at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park in 2015 and the Brazilian duo begin their season together in Pool B which also includes America’s Fendrick/Hughes.

A shoulder injury has ruled out Olympic champion Laura Ludwig but that isn’t stopping Kira Walkenhorst from racking up points on the sand. Together with temporary partner Julia Groβner, the Germans they go in search of glory in Pool D.

A number of new teams will be making their competitive debuts together over the next few days, and the most interesting will be German duo Borger/Kozuch – the latter of which has made the switch to beach from the indoor game.
